Key Phrase Extraction of Lightly Filtered Broadcast News
This paper explores the impact of light filtering on automatic key phrase
extraction (AKE) applied to Broadcast News (BN). Key phrases are words and
expressions that best characterize the content of a document. Key phrases are
often used to index the document or as features in further processing. This
makes improvements in AKE accuracy particularly important. We hypothesized that
filtering out marginally relevant sentences from a document would improve AKE
accuracy. Our experiments confirmed this hypothesis. Elimination of as little
as 10% of the document sentences lead to a 2% improvement in AKE precision and
recall. AKE is built over MAUI toolkit that follows a supervised learning
approach. We trained and tested our AKE method on a gold standard made of 8 BN
programs containing 110 manually annotated news stories. The experiments were
conducted within a Multimedia Monitoring Solution (MMS) system for TV and radio
news/programs, running daily, and monitoring 12 TV and 4 radio channels.Comment: In 15th International Conference on Text, Speech and Dialogue (TSD

Crossing frontiers between tourism and demography. An empirical analysis based on European travellers’ behaviour
This paper aims to establish possible tourism demand scenarios of European travellers to Portugal
based on the relationship with changing population structures. A combination of the EuROBAROMETER
report 370 (“Attitudes of Europeans towards Tourism in 2013”) and the cohort-component method for
population projections will allow the development of different possible tourism demand scenarios.
Following the European report, individuals who travelled in 2013 were most likely to live in a household
with two or more individuals. Thus, if elderly couples are together till later in their life and in better
physiological shape, it is possible that the number of elderly individuals travelling for tourism purposes
will increase in the near future. If we can expect tourists from developing countries to be younger due
to their demographic dynamics than those from developed countries, where the ageing population is
growing fast, we can expect that the percentage of the elderly among tourists will increase. Furthermore,
the 2013 European report found that the combination of socio-demographic variables, such as,
age, population, gender, household dimension, country of residence and trip purpose explained tourism
demand scenarios for Portugal, confirming that seniors and families evidence a paramount sense of
importance for the destination. In the literature there is a lack of discussion about the effects of demography
in the future and the role of an ageing population in tourism demand choice patterns. We
aim to contribute to filling this gap. Consequently, we strongly believe that this paper contributes to
the literature by introducing a new field of discussion about the importance of demographic changes
in shaping travel trends

e tornar a ação no contexto possível.

Potential Production of Theranostic Boron Nitride Nanotubes (64Cu-BNNTs) Radiolabeled by Neutron Capture
In this work, the radioisotope 64Cu was obtained from copper (II) chloride dihydrate in a nuclear research reactor by neutron capture, (63Cu(n, )64Cu), and incorporated into boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) using a solvothermal process. The produced 64Cu-BNNTs were analyzed by TEM, MEV, FTIR, XDR, XPS and gamma spectrometry, with which it was possible to observe the formation of64Cu nanoparticles, with sizes of up to 16 nm, distributed through nanotubes. The synthesized of 64Cu nanostructures showed a pure photoemission peak of 511 keV, which is characteristic of gamma radiation. This type of emission is desirable for Photon Emission Tomography (PET scan) image acquisition, as well as its use in several cancer treatments. Thus, 64Cu-BNNTs present an excellent alternative as theranostic nanomaterials that can be used in diagnosis and therapy by different techniques used in nuclear medicine
Klebsiella pneumoniae Spinal Epidural Abscess treated conservatively
Spinal infections are rare but potentially life-threatening disorders. A high level of clinical suspicion is necessary for rapid diagnosis and treatment initiation. The treatment combines both antibiotics and surgical intervention in the vast majority of cases. The authors report the case of a 84-year old female patient with a three week history of persistent lumbar back pain radiating to both thighs following a lower respiratory tract infection. She had lumbar spine tenderness but no neurological compromise. Her inflammatory markers were elevated and lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging revealed L4-L5 spondylodiscitis with spinal epidural abscess. Blood cultures isolated Klebsiella pneumoniae and, since she was neurologically stable, conservative treatment with two-week intravenous gentamicin and eight-week intravenous ceftriaxone was initiated with positive inpatient and outpatient evolution.publishersversionpublishe
Determinants of European tourism demand in a demographic ageing society
This study identifies the senior European tourists determinants that explained
their decisions to go on holidays. The empirical study was conducted among European
tourists by applying a logit model. The model intends to explain the determinants related to
the decision to go on holidays since the probability of a senior European tourist taking
holidays in a country depends on a mix of motives as previous travel experience and
demographic characteristics. Policy and theoretical implications are derived for contributing
to the discussion between demographic variables and tourism demand choice patterns. The authors are pleased to acknowledge financial support from FCT – The Portuguese National Funding Agency for Science, Research and Technology - COMPETE, FEDER, Portugal 2020 under the Project UID/HIS/00057/2013 (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-007702) - CIDEHU
